“With Those”
This little phrase from 2 Timothy 2:22 became even more real to me as I joined the International Chinese-Speaking Conference held last February in Taiwan. The Lord has granted me so much blessing and experiences during this time. Particularly is my experience “with those who call upon the name of the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Tim. 2:22).
It was my first time in Taiwan and yet it felt that I was at home. Not just physically but much more in my soul and in my spirit. Even though the schedule was very tight during the Conference time, I really felt shepherded by the Lord just by the mere presence of the saints. All opportunities and activities I had is an experience to be “with those”. A little nod from elderly saints really encouraged me to go on in the church life. A smile from the saints during walks going to MRT stations or during the MRT rides refreshes my soul and spirit. The meals we shared together at my host family formed more Christ in me in a very “Jesusly human” way.
One memorable experience I will never forget, is my fellowship with the host family I was assigned to in the Beitou District, Hall 12. A couple hosted my dad and I. I appreciate the efforts they put in preparing the place for us and the meals we took together. But what I will never forget are the main moments we spent fellowshipping over cups of coffee. The brother would prepare either a pour-over coffee or the sister would prepare a siphon coffee. It is those moments that I could say that being “with those”, together in the Body, supplies the Body for the growth of the Body. The fellowship ushered me closer to this one big family of God. I never felt different from them. Rather, I felt I was part of a big family.
To enjoy the Lord’s blessing in full, we need to continually be “with those”. The Lord’s blessing is not just upon the individual. It can be enjoyed corporately as well. This is the experience of the Body. This is my experience during that time. I will forever treasure them in my heart. Thank you to all the saints who shepherded us during our stay!
Much grace from the Philippines!
